Kelty FC 3.0 child Carrier

We went to REI Monday evening after I had worked a 12 hour night shift Sunday and had no sleep all day Monday. We tried on several carriers. I thought the Sherpani Rumba child carrier was the best that night but now I am thinking it was because I was so very tired and just wanted to go home. Thankfully the sales person told us that they were expecting a shipment of Kelty FC 3.0 carriers on Wends. (all they had at the time was Kelty FC 2.0 and a Kelty freestyle (I think that was the name). We didn't even try on any of the REI packs. So Last night we went and tried on the Sherpani and I couldn't get it to fit right at all. But the Kelty FC 3.o fit perfectly. They only had blue (it also comes in red). The sales person we had last night tried to encourage me to order a Deuter kid Comfort 3 child carrier sight unseen. Then a manager or sales team leader, not sure what her title was, overheard her and asked who would be doing the primary wearing of the pack and Will said that I would be. She then proceeded to tell us how huge the Deuter Kid comfort 3 is. She told us that we were free to bring the back back if it didn't work for us and that we could always exchange it for a Deuter kid 3 if the Kelty FC 3.0 didn't work for us but that she thought the Kelty would be a great pack for us so we purchased it. We had to try it out on Sooty and Sandy (Sandy didn't like it much, Sooty thought it was for him). I hope the weather is clear enough to take Lilith for a walk today. My biggest pro reason for the Sherpani was the 2,800 cubic inches storage and max. weight of 70 pounds (child+ gear+ pack)vs. 1,100 cubic inches and 50 pounds on the kelty. The Sherpani also has foot stirrups for the child but has the most useless excuse for a sun roof/ rain shield (and I couldn't get comfortable in it the second time I tried it even though I really wanted that pack). The Kelty 3.0 is a bright blue (I don't like it) but it fit comfortably with just a few adjustments. It has a sun/rain shield that might actually keep Lilith dry and protected. You can order the foot stirrups for it but Lilith's larger shoes (we tried with sandals the first night) wouldn't fit in the Sherpani's foot stirrups the second time we tried it. The kelty comes with a kid view mirror and toy loops. It also had a solid frame around the kid compartment (which could be a minus if you have a chubby baby or toddler) and the Sherpani had more straps to adjust the width of the compartment which didn't work too well with Will jogging in the store. I will write more about the Kelty (and hopefully post some photos of Lilith in the pack), after our first big hike.

How's the Kelty working for you? I'm deciding between the Kelty FC 3 and the REI Piggyback. I'd love to hear your thoughts
