I feel like he is watching us. Maybe I should put back the skinny cow ice cream?

there are reasons that I don't let husband shop alone

First of all he spends $80+ dollars, forgets 1/2 of what is on the list and comes home with tons of garbage like Banana cream pie and donuts instead of the bananas or dry cat food that I actually sent him for. Then I get angry at myself because I can't stay out of the pie. Bad husband BAD! I only get more upset when in my truth in advertising mindset, I have to tell you about it and track it online with the resulting tweet for all of the world (okay just my followers)to see. Then I get more upset as I see just how over my recommended daily caloric allowance the aforementioned slice of pie put me for yesterday! Live and learn. I guess I will be shopping for the forgotten cat food and bananas myself after work today. Gurrr

I am gonna cave and get an iphone 3Gs

Okay, I may have to cave and get one now. I was resisting, boycotting even, the Iphone. Because my old cell phone that doesn't even have service anymore, has a video recorder in it. I turned off the cell phone that we initially got for me here in Alaska after the contract ended because I never carried it. Why? Because it wasn't as cool as my old phone. If you read this blog regularly, then you have prob. seen hundreds of photos and videos taken with that phone. I still carry it with me everywhere for that and the pda capabilities it has.
Well now Apple has taken my only excuse for not getting an Iphone away. The apple iphone 3gS promises to be the best thing since sliced bread. It may not do your dishes but it can tell you where to get the best deal on a new dishwasher and give you directions to the store! Yep, it even has GPS! This is super cool for me considering when ever someone says, "oh, you can't miss it", I assure them and often prove to them that indeed I can!
One of the biggest things I have missed about not having my current phone connected to a network anymore (the carrier didn't offer service in Alaska) was the ability to blog on the go from my phone. When we lived in Colorado, I did this a lot. That and having the ability instant message again. I found that I totally stopped instant messaging after I cancelled my phone service. I don't do it from my computer at all. Strange huh? But boy did I instant message and text from that phone! Facebook and myspace mobile here I come. Hee Hee! evil laugh.
It even has Nike + ipod support so I can upload my workout info and share it with you guys here(can you say accountability)! Not to mention the tons of available (some are even free) games and applications available for it. (I used the heck out of the games and applications that were available for my old phone. Of course Lilith wasn't born or was a little baby at that time but hey, I still get some free time these days.
I also found out that my employer has a deal with At&t to get 24% off your monthly bill! Hey, there is no stopping the inevitable now!
So within the next month or so be on the lookout for post on the fly from my new iphone 3Gs
read more and see demos of the new iphone 3Gs here!

Believe ready to drink protein in Soothing Chai

I would love to give this a try... I really would. With 20 grams of protein, 120 calories per serving (9.5 fl ounces), 0 grms fat, 5 grms of carbs, and 3.5 grms of sugar..it sounds like it would be great. It's even not that expensive $29.99 per case which works out to roughly $2.50 each which when you consider what most people spend on their daily Starbucks drink..it doesn't sound like much at all. Heck, even a chai at the cafeteria where I work is more than that! I am ready to order then I see the "calculate shipping button". I enter my zip code and there is where things go horribly wrong....their cheapest shipping option (UPS 2nd day air) is $55.70 for one case! The only other option, UPS next day air, is $96.80!!!!! I cannot justify spending more on the shipping than I am on the product itself! Another hidden cost for living in Alaska! Or so I thought till I entered my mothers Colorado zip code and was quoted the exact same rates! So I went to their shipping information page and am greeted with...
"Shipping and Other Information You're not spending... you're investing in your health!"
If that isn't saying, "Hey, we know our shipping costs are outrageous", I don't know what is!
Then if you scroll down further you get the following disclaimers about their shipping...
"IMPORTANT WINTER SHIPPING INFO:
Ready to Drink bottles and cans of liquid freeze in the winter. If you live in an area where liquids are apt to freeze in your daytime temperatures take delivery at your place of business so your package is not left outside until your return home OR leave instructions for your driver to leave package inside an enclosed area or with a neighbor.
UPS does not pay claims resulting from bottle contents freezing and breaking. It is your responsibility to consider the items you are ordering and whether the weather will cause them to break. If you order liquids and they freeze and break, UPS and BE, Inc. are not responsible for the damage. The items in question include all RTD protein drinks and bottles of DaVinci syrup. No exceptions.
IMPORTANT SUMMER SHIPPING INFO:
During summer months we are NOT responsible for the melting of chocolate products while in transit. We pack as well as possible to prevent melting, but once your order leaves our premises, the weather is out of our control.
No returns or credits on protein bars or any chocolate product because package contents have been left on your porch or outside in the heat.
IF your order containing chocolate has been in the heat - unpack carton contents, and without touching or smushing individual bars, place boxes in your refrigerator for about an hour. They will reharden and suffer no loss of nutrition, although they might not be quite as pretty.
Most places in the USA see higher temperatures than we do here in Florida, and UPS trucks are not air conditioned so it isn't that we ship from Florida that causes the problem, but that it is HOT in Summer all over and chocolate MELTS."
Excuse me but if I am spending almost $100 on shipping, especially for a product itself that costs 1/3 of that, then I want some kind of money back guarantee not a list of reasons why the seller wont be responsible if their product arrives damaged or unconsumable!
"Your Satisfaction Is Important To Us
We've guaranteed your satisfaction since we packed and shipped our first canister of protein and our single goal is to make you happy. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return any sealed product that is still suitable for resale in it's original condition within 90 days for a prompt exchange for another product of equal or lesser value.
The verification of the sealed returned containers is up to the discretion of the BariatricEating.com Warehouse Department and if the returned product is deemed unfit for sale no credit will be issued, no product will be exchanged, and the shipment will not be returned.
All returns are subject to a 25% restocking fee.
Product may not be returned without prior authorization from a Customer Care representative.
Merchandise must be returned at your expense in unopened and perfect condition in order to receive a credit for future purchases.
We do not allow returns of any boxes of protein bars. We sell bars in smaller quantities so that they can be tried without buying a full box."
The more I read the more I am convinced that it is next to impossible to get any type of refund from this company. Maybe I am wrong, hopefully I am. If you have ordered from them and had a great wonderful experience, please comment and let me know. Also, if you are willing to pay the exorbitant shipping (and are willing to gamble that your shakes will arrive in good condition)and decide to order these Chai shakes...PLEASE let me know how they are!!! I would love to know!
More information about the shakes from the Bariatric eating website..
"Reserve Today. Product expected to arrive week of May 19th-22nd. Entire order will ship upon arrival.

My mother the Senior Avenger..unfortunately not.

my mother the senior avenger...unfortunately not according to the Police. Their title would read, Anna's mother..violent Senior woman goes on rampage.
My mother was once mugged in broad daylight in the parking lot of a King Soopers. The guy had a knife. My mother was digging in her purse to give him her wallet but her hand locked on the mace I had given her instead. She pulled it out and maced the guy. He grabbed her purse away from her before the mace started to affect him and pulled the wallet out just as the mace blinded him. He started brandishing his knife blindly at my mother at which point my mother (ever the environmentalist) started hitting him with her canvas grocery bag filled with 30 cans of cat food. The would be mugger fell to the ground and kept wildly slashing with his knife and clutching my mothers wallet as my mother yelled for help.
It is at this point in the telling of the story that she said, "Anna no one would come help me."
I replied, "Let me see, the guy is laying on the ground in the fetal position while you are macing him with one hand and hitting him with 30 cans of cat food with the other".
"But I am an OLD WOMAN!" she replied.
"I think everyone thought you were doing okay.", I said.
She sniffed indignantly and went on to say," Well he had a K_N_I_F_E!!! AND he was STEALING MY WALLET. He never dropped the wallet. I told him if he would let go of the wallet I would stop and he wouldn't!"
Finally, a mall security officer came over in his little mall golf cart and the guy throws the wallet down and tries to stagger away. They catch him. The police are called and arrive. My mother signs all of the paperwork and relays her story to the Lakewood police department and they take him away.
Shortly after my mother arrived home that evening, she received a call from the police department telling her that she needed to come down to the station right away. When she got there it was to find out that the would be mugger was threatening to press assault charges against her and that the police officer had kindly got him to agree not to do that if my mother would drop all charges against him. The police officer told her she had got her money back so she should let it go. She told him that the only reason she had got her money back was because she had defended herself. The officer said that her defending of her self was a bit excessive, (maybe if she had hit him with only 10-15 cans she would have been okay, who knows. How many cans of cat food does it take to become excessive force anyway?), and that he really didn't want to have to arrest her for assault. My mother (who has never even got a traffic ticket) couldn't believe she was about to be finger printed, have her picture taken, and charged with assault, so she reluctantly agreed to drop the charges.
She started crying at that point in the telling of the story. I felt really bad as my mother really is one of those "do the right thing" kind of people and I knew this felt like a cop out for her but she had been afraid.
"I wish I hadn't dropped the charges, Anna. Now he will continue to do this to others." she said sadly.
I said, "Yes, you should have made him go to court so he could get on the witness stand and explain how he could no longer support his family in his chosen profession as a mugger of the elderly. How every time he walks down the pet food isle, he has flash backs. How, every time he sees a prospective elderly victim, he hesitates because he has to gage their ability to defend themselves before attempting to mug them. At the very least, the police have a record of him now and you have to admit, he will probably never live down the ridicule he received from the witnesses, police involved, and since he sounds like such a smart man, I am sure he will relay the story to others, think of the insults he will have to endure then."
It wasn't much but I think it made her feel a little better. I hope he is out there, looking over his shoulder, sure that around the next corner, or perhaps he wonders when he hears footsteps behind him, if it isn't my elderly disabled mother sneaking up on him with perhaps a 15 pound bag of cat litter this time.
