Before and After
Bariatric Eating website
This is a great book that starts out as a journal of the authors first year
post op. It also has over 100 pages of recipes for almost every stage
of post op eating. She even does reviews of products geared towards weight loss surgery patients such as protein powders (she likes Isopure too) and vitamins. She lives in Miami and talks about going to some of the finer restaurants
in that area and what she ordered. It is great to be able to see from
her example, that you can go out with friends and order off of most restaurant
menus after this surgery. She does indulge in tastes of deserts but is
careful to warn the reader that she only takes one or two BITES, not a
whole desert. She does describe one episode where she over indulged and
had a form of dumping after too much birthday cake. (not graphically
but in enough detail that you get the point that it was pretty
painful). I am very glad I had this book to read so I could try the
recipes and so I could see what I am feeling post op is normal. The
author also has a website; www.bariatriceating.com
From the book;
Protein Shake Pantry Ingredients
frozen banana chunks
frozen papaya chunks
frozen mango cubes
frozen unsweetened pineapple cubes
frozen blueberries (no sugar added)

whole nutmeg
good quality unsweetened cocoa powder (Droste, Ghirardelli, or Scharffen Burger)
Whipped peanut butter

Da Vinci Sugar Free (SF) Hazelnut, Vanilla, and Strawberry syrups
Basic Shake Formula
If
at first you cannot drink an entire shake in one sitting, make 2
smaller shakes , using half of the ingredients, to drink at different
times during your day.
1/2 cup skim milk, soy milk, or water
2 scoops Zero Carb Isopure creamy vanilla
about 1 cup ice cubes
flavoring ingredients
measure the milk and protein powder in to the blender. Add ice cubes along with
the flavoring ingredients you have chosen and quickly pulse the blender
on and off until the shake is well blended, creamy, and frosty. Do not
add more liquid; the ice will liquefy to produce a smooth consistency.
