This was a wonderful gift that sadly stayed in its box for the first month of Liliths life because I didn't realise what a sleep miracle it was. I have never been the type of person that can fall asleep to white noise so when I received this, I thought I would start using it once we moved Lilith from the bassinet in our room to her crib in her own room (stupidly thinking that then I wouldn't have to hear it...I was totally forgetting about the baby monitor). I also received the dvd, "The Happiest Baby on the Block". In that dvd, white noise is recomended again and again. Since Lilith was going to bed before us.. she was waking not only to our snores and movements in bed but also to the TV and any coversations we might have in the livingroom (this was in our old house. in our new house we have the primary tv downstairs while Lilith's nursery is upstairs). I finally decided to give it a try out of despiration. The "rain" setting sounds like frying or constant popping...it's hard to explain but I found it annoying but the other settings (my fav is babbiling brook) are quite nice and to my surprize.. I find myself turning it on even during the day when Lilith and I take "boobie naps" (this is when Lilith wants to nap on the breast in our bed and I either sleep with her or read while she naps). It has a timer feature but we usually leave it on all night. You can get it at Babies R US.
