This months rant from www.bariatriceating.com

This is just too true not to share! You can go to www.bariatriceating.com to read more of the authors monthly rants.
We all know people who complain.

All the time.

Fat or thin.

They hate their job.

They don’t like their boss.

They're soooo unlucky.

They have to drive too far.

They are bored with their life.

They would like a new car.

They want to find a boyfriend.

They would love to find a better apartment.

I quietly say it to myself, but it is very likely that nothing is going to change for them. One year from now things will suck and in five years thing will still suck. Nothing in life changes until we change it. God provides the wind, but we must raise the sails.

There are people who whine that nothing good ever happens to them. They long for the day that it will be their turn – when are they going to have something good fall into their life? A good friend of mine used to cry about the amazing series of unfortunate events that seems to happen to her almost weekly and ask when the bad was going to stop and the good start. She waited for years and her life remained at the exact same level.

I was always positive for her, but deep down knew that nothing was going to change until she changed her perception. We all have bad things happen to us, it’s that some of us don’t dwell on the bad; we deal with it and move on. If you don’t like your life, change something! Do something different. It is difficult to do as there is comfort in familiarity, even if it is negative comfort. It takes courage to leave a bad attitude behind and be a positive force in the world.

I know people who wistfully mention how lucky some folks are - and I don’t deny that I am a very lucky person - but luck is when preparation meets opportunity! Some folks are so intent on looking down when they walk that the biggest opportunity in the world could be laying in front of them and they would step over it. People start to expect bad rather than look for good. Opportunities are all around us every day but they are picked up by the people who are looking for them.

Others are waiting for the fun to start. Waiting for the kids to get older. Waiting for car to be paid off. Waiting until they have the money. They are waiting and life moves right on past them. The fun isn’t going to start until you make it start. Go out on a limb, stop waiting for the right time and figure out how to live while life happens. The future is promised to no one. If you wait, all that happens is that you get older.

A lot of my single friends are waiting for a wonderful person to come into their life, but unless this someone walks into their house and trips over their sofa, they are out of luck! Sign up for an Italian or Spanish class at your local high school. Find a painting class at the community center. Shop at Whole Foods at 8 pm on a Friday night. Have supper sitting at a sushi bar where it is commonplace and comfortable to eat alone. Put out a friendly vibe. Look people in the eye and SMILE. Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.

I know many people who lose weight and are very disappointed to find that they have the same life. Here is some news – you are going to have the same life unless you make changes. Get out there, do something different, make something happen for you! Make the changes.

When in doubt, make a fool of yourself. There is a microscopically thin line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on earth. So, what the hell, leap!
